In the past few years social networking has exploded, with sites like MySpace and Facebook now amongst the top 8 websites visited globally. New sites are cropping up constantly trying to become as successful with their own flavor on social networking, sites like Twitter (micro-blogging) and Pownce (share website, files and short updates).
So I’ve join a bunch of social networks but I mainly use Twitter and Facebook. But I found myself updating my status on Facebook, then when I’m on Twitter writing the roughly the same thing again. I quickly found this very annoying and began my search for a way to update them both simultaneously. In my search I came across ping.fm, the service allows me to add all the social networks I’m a member of, then when I write something it’s instantly pinged to them all.
Problem solved.
Update: On 15th December 2008 Pownce will be shutting down and cease to exist, however Ping.fm still updates another 28 social networks.
